In May I organised and spoke at the very successful Irish College of Paramedics Wellbeing Symposium which was held in UCC. On the day we had a wide range of expert speakers including a dietitian, sleep physiologist, fitness researcher, social worker and more. The event was well attended, and everyone had an enjoyable day of learning and networking. Thank you to PHECC and UCC School of Medicine and Health for their support of our Wellbeing Symposium yesterday. This event would not have been possible without their support and generosity! To all the staff at UCC for their support in organising the event – thank you Dave, Carol and Gemma.
A huge thank you also to our amazing speakers Gráinne Kent, Motty Varghese, Alex (Sandy) MacQuarrie, Ann Payne, Sharon Gallagher, Jennifer Reidy, Alan Batt, Paul Gallen, Kieran Henry, Peter McDaid, and star of the show, Cathal Gallagher. They provided expert advice on sleep, diet, mental health, fatigue, stress management, work-life-volunteer balance and personal insights. Thanks to Irish Journal of Paramedicine photographer Kieran Minihane for the photography. And finally, thank you to everyone who attended, both in-person & online, who shared their stories, struggles & advice with others. I hope you all took something practical away from the event that you can use on your journey to becoming a better responder, practitioner & person!
I was so honoured to be speaking at the #ICoP2019 symposium yesterday on #diet during #shiftwork, among such a prestigious group of presenters. A special thank you to @alan_batt for organising an amazing event. Proud to have you as a #collaborator #mentor and #friend. https://t.co/5mCVDlgpnl
