I’m back from another successful EMS Gathering in Kinsale, Co. Cork, Ireland.
Attendees were treated to a wide variety of activities, including swimming, boat trips, a tactical EMS workshop with armed Gardai and the Air Corps, a buffet BBQ on Thursday evening in the Kinsale Yacht Club, and the grand finale dinner on Friday night in the Trident Hotel. Attendees came from Ireland, the UK, Canada, the USA, Germany, Poland and more. It was great to see so many enthusiastic, dedicated clinicians and researchers in one place.
I’m proud once again to have played a small part in the organisation of the EMS Gathering 2017 in Kinsale. I was honoured to chair the Abstract Review committee again this year, and Friday morning saw a dedicated EMS Research session, with talks from speakers from Canada, Poland, Ireland and the UK.
I presented my research findings from the STEMI bypass project I ran as part of my masters, a paramedic research group I am involved with in Ontario called the McNally Group, and I also had a poster presentation with Dr. Shane Knox, President of the Irish College of Paramedics, outlining the role of the Irish College of Paramedics in promoting professionalism in Ireland.
Thanks to Kieran Henry, Conor Deasy, Damian McGovern and the rest of the team for a fantastic few days at this unique learning event! Thanks also to Kieran Minihane for the as usual superb photography of the event.
