PACE2019 has finally drawn to a close, and along with it, the inaugural Paramedic Research Symposium. I had a chance over the few days in Winnipeg to catch\u00a0up with friends old and new, and I had some very interesting and informative discussions with innovators and change-makers in paramedicine. I had the opportunity to team up with John Gyuran from CPER again to discuss Reflective Practice in Paramedics, and joined two of my favourite paramedics Paige Mason and Chelsea Lanos for a panel discussion on sponsorship of women in paramedicine.<\/p>\n

A special thanks to Dr. Walter Tavares and Dr. Alex (Sandy) MacQuarrie for their keynote talks at the research symposium, and Cheryl Cameron and Dr. Becky Donelon for all of their work over the past number of months to put the Paramedic Research Symposium together.\u00a0The single best moment of the Symposium for me was watching Ian Drennan and Jonathan Lee’s paramedic students from Georgian College in Ontario chatting with paramedic students from Winnipeg about their student-led research projects.<\/p>\n

A big shout out to my former students Alyson Cochrane, Priya Pithia, Emma Laird, Kelly Mifflin and Venessa Sonley-Long who had their poster accepted and presented at the Symposium. They researched student paramedics attitudes towards homelessness, a first of its kind study. This has since been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Caring Sciences! What a fantastic achievement!<\/p>\n\n\t\t
